Redfield Foundation Donates to Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living

Reno, NV (July 22, 2014) – The Redfield Foundation is joining with other area foundations to assist in remodeling the Northern Nevada Center For Independent Living’s teaching kitchen to embrace the concept of universal design. The goal is to create a “universal kitchen,” which ensures it can be used by all people, regardless of age or ability.

“Part of living independently is knowing how to cook for yourself, so that’s an important lesson for us to be able to offer our consumers,” explained NNCIL Executive Director Lisa Bonie. “Our kitchen fixtures and appliances are old though, so these donations are critical to our mission.”

“The Redfield Foundation donation is a fantastic start and we’re very grateful to them,” said Bonie. “Now we’re looking for professional contractors who will donate, or significantly reduce, the cost for their services. We also need additional financial donations as a project like this requires a significant investment.”
