Lorina Daviton Hired by NNCIL

Reno, NV (January 15, 2015) – We’re very excited to welcome Lorina Daviton to our team, as our new Telecommunication Equipment Distribution Specialist. In her new role, she oversees NNCIL’s new Telecommunication Equipment program, which provides free equipment for the hard of hearing and those with hearing loss. The program is available for anyone who is a resident of the State of Nevada.

Lorina has worked with the deaf and hard of hearing since 2007, having previously served as a Client Support Specialist and Case Manager/Victim Advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocacy Resource Center. She is also an American Sign Language Instructor at Truckee Meadows Community College.

“Both of my parents are deaf, so I’ve grown up interpreting situations and helping them communicate. They’re also both strong advocates and that has led to my advocacy skills,” Lorina says. “It’s so important to be able to communicate in general and that is a challenge for certain members of our population. This equipment will help give people the communication skills and access they need to have an independent life.”

Lorina earned her associates degree from Truckee Meadows Community College, and will earn her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2015.
