Foundations Donate to Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living

Reno, NV (December 19, 2013) – Area foundations have donated to the Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living (NNCIL), assisting them with their goal of helping people, regardless of disability, to live independent lives. The Roxie and Azad Joseph Foundation donated $15,000, and the Safeway Foundation donated $2,000, to be used for kitchen upgrades; while the Leonette Foundation donated $5,000 for mobility training.

“We are very grateful to these foundations, as well as all of our individual donors and volunteers. With this money, we’ll be able to bring our kitchen up to standards, allowing us to help more individuals with disabilities learn better how to cook and feed themselves, while also expanding our mobility training and other services,” said NNCIL Executive Director Lisa Bonie.

About Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living

NNCIL was founded in 1982 by a small group of people with disabilities, who believe that each person, regardless of the severity of his or her disability, has the potential to grow, develop and share fully the joys and responsibilities of our society. NNCIL is a State of Nevada Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) site.
